Everyone’s a winner at AADC Bingo!

Over 80 guests rocked up on Wednesday to play bingo, eat, drink and be merry. Everyone can claim to be a winner (literally) but with a jackpot of $100 some were happier than others.

Well done to those that won cash and prizes or both!

Thanks again to the sponsored gift packs from Austereo, Blockbuster Norwood, Axia, Hair and Adelaide United.

2009 AADC Awards

Killer Ideas’ turned Glenelg’s Stamford Grand Hotel into a crime scene on Monday night (29 March) when the local industry gathered for its annual night of night’s, The AADC Awards.
Along with the usual fun and frivolity, a healthy number of awards were presented for some truly outstanding work across almost all disciplines and categories.
Chairman of Judges Cristian Staal praised the standard of work across the board winning the audience over with his statement that ‘it would seriously stack up against work from anywhere in the world’.
In a rare event, a single piece won both the Gold Chair and Master’s Chair awards with Jam Advertising and Ernie Clark ACS sharing the honours for their brilliant (although perhaps not entirely appropriate on the big screen just before desert!) ‘Out it flu’ TVC. The other major annual gong ‘the silver watering can’ President’s Award went to Sputnik.
Naturally the night kicked on and we can only guess at just how much the industry’s productivity was affected the following day.
To all the winners and finalists, the AADC extends its congratulations and we look forward to even bigger and better things next year.

Get the Clag and the crayons out kids

The AADC is searching for the biggest idea in town – the Awards Night theme. Based on the proposition that ‘Adelaide is a city of ideas’, get your big idea in by August 21 2009 and make sure that no matter what ideas get a gong at award time, your idea is behind every single one of them. The task is more than just creating a poster. The theme for the awards is applied to invitations, online activity, the event itself and a range of other collateral material.

Material required for initial submission:
Entrants are asked to supply a single piece that demonstrates the concept and functions as a call for entries. This may be in the form of a poster, viral or direct piece. The concept should be presented in a form that clearly explains your concept.
Submissions should also include a brief written description of how the idea can be applied across the whole campaign. Rough scribbles may be included to help convey your campaign extensions.
Deadline:
Submissions due 21st August 2009.
Send material to Laila via aadc@bigpond.net.au
The winning theme will be launched at the
2009 AADC Xmas Party.

Chris Briscoe

Chris Briscoe
Sadly, our industry lost a fantastic talent and a lovely man recently, with the passing of Chris Briscoe. As an Art Director, together with his creative partner and close friend Susie Immurs, Chris worked on so many iconic brands through his time in the Adelaide industry and later interstate. Campaigns like ‘Give and Take Away the Bars’ for Adelaide Zoo, ‘Very Very Chocolatey’ for Farmers Union, ‘The Cats Of Australia’ for Snappy Tom and the Mutual Community ‘Apples’ logo which is still in use today – to name but a few.
Through the AADC, Chris was involved in multiple Gold Chair wins at our Awards, was a member of various committees and is a Watering Can recipient, recognising his significant contribution to our industry. His work lives on as does his memory. On behalf of the AADC, our thoughts go out to his family and friends, particularly his children Simon, Luke and Tessa.
