Green soars to win Mentor Program Showdown

11 September 2014

Hayley Green and India Dix were awarded ‘Best of Club’ by PAFC and AFC Officials last night. Accompanying the winners are their amazing Mentors, Jay Wheeler of Clemenger BBDO and Troy O’Brien of The Kingdom.

Hayley Green was crowned winner of the 2014 Adelaide Advertising & Design Club (AADC) Mentor Program’s AFL Merch-N-Designing Showdown at Adelaide Oval last night.

The final siren sounded and Green was adjudged ‘Best Overall’ by a select panel of industry judges; including AADC Executive Committee member Chris Charlton, SA Adstream’s Amy Lambert and News Corp Australia’s Guy Turner.

This year’s program saw the support of Adelaide’s two great AFL Clubs, The Port Adelaide Football Club (PAFC) and The Adelaide Crows Football Club (AFC) who awarded exclusive ‘Best of Club’ winners, India Dix and Hayley Green, with coveted signed 2014 AFL Guernseys.

AADC Executive Committee members and drivers of the Club’s Education Program Patricia Balfour and Roger Keynes said:

“The opportunity to work for two of the most prominent brands in South Australia was an enormous opportunity and privilege.”

“We would like to acknowledge the efforts of The Crows’ Alex Bianchini and Matthew Clarke (Doc) together with PAFC’s Stephen Shirley, Kimberley Smith and Mitchell Thompson for their support and presence at the exhibition finale.”

“Each year the Mentor Program aims to pair young hopefuls with industry professionals to guide them into the world of design and advertising while providing them with agency experience and an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals.”

Teams received a live brief and a chance for immersive research by attending a home game as well as tours of the footy club. The inclusion of a creative mentor, a deadline, and the opportunity to have their work judged provided amazing agency experience and acts as somewhat of a primer for those looking to attend AWARD school in the future.

Following last year’s street banner brief both judged and supplied by Brand South Australia, the addition of AADC as a teammate to two of the highest profile brands in the state meant an incredible experience for all involved as well as broadening awareness of the AADC and inspiring young hopefuls alike.
