We may have had to wait since April 2020 for this event, but it was worth it.
For the fourth AdMental, two university students Alice Reardon (Flinders University) and Dallas Rodgers (Adelaide University) competed in a Gruen Transfer-style pitch held at Bonython Hall last Thursday 20th May.
Following a mental health panel, both students introduced their completed ads before playing them for the live audience. The judging panel, consisting of Patrick O’Reilly (TBWA/Adelaide), Annalise Menzel (YahYah Productions) and Eloise Hall (TABOO Sanitary Products) and facilitated by Joe Godsell (TBWA/Adelaide) discussed the merits of both spots before awarding Dallas’ entry the Geoff Robertson Memorial Trophy.
AdMental 2021 MC Hans the German led the audience in a cheer-off, to determine the People’s Choice award, with Alice taking a trophy home too. The AADC have gifted Dallas a scholarship to AWARD School as part of his prize.
The AADC has supported this great initiative for the last five years and we’re looking forward to releasing the brief for next year’s AdMental competition. If you’re interested in participating, keep an ear out.
This year TAFE SA students Jasmine and Onyx produced the successful designs for AdMental’s rebrand and this year’ event.
Dallas and Alice were mentored by Showpony Advertising and Black Sheep Advertising.
AdMental is supported by the Mental Health Coalition of South Australia, SA Health and the Government of South Australia, Don Dunstan Foundation, Commissioner for Children & Young People, Return to Work SA, Origin Energy, City of Adelaide, Fay Fuller Foundation, Bremerton Wines, Forage Supply Co and the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club.
