Week 2 – Generating Ideas Focus Our cohort focussed on concept development and proven ideation techniques that deliver results.

Week 3 – Writing Copy - The Class covered practical copywriting skills that connect with audiences and drive action.

Week 4 – Art Direction Students learned to direct their creative vision with confidence and clarity.

The right environment at Showpony

Showpony provided the perfect creative setting – a professional space where ideas could develop naturally and collaboration flourished.

A big thank you to Jamie Scott for allowing us to use Showpony as our venue. Seeing the inside of an agency is an invaluable experience for the students and we loved coming to Showpony every week.

Special thanks to Chris Kim and Laura Marcus – your assistance in keeping the Showpony doors open after-hours was invaluable to the learning experience.

Strong student outcomes

Students completed the course with:

  • Practical skills they're already applying

  • Professional confidence with some new found tools

  • Industry knowledge from James Rickard

  • Certificate of Completion for their CV

  • Real-world strategies that work in agency and freelance environments

What made it work

The hands-on, in-person approach delivered results that online learning simply can't match. Students learned by doing – working on real briefs, developing actual concepts and creating work throughout the course.

Immediate feedback from James Rickard meant students could refine their ideas in real-time, while the collaborative environment encouraged peer learning and creative problem-solving. The small group size (just 13 students) ensured everyone received individual attention and personalised guidance.

Importantly, students supported each other through the creative process; building networks that will benefit their careers for years to come.
