She had many titles and achievements to her name, including, graphic designer, lecturer, inaugural AGDA awards committee member, AGDA general manager and executive director and most recently, Adjunct Senior Lecturer at UniSA, but industry legend Rita Siow will be most remembered for being a warm, kind, generous and thoroughly decent human being.
Moving to Australia from Singapore as a student at the South Australian School of Arts (now the University of South Australia) in the late 1980s, she applied her substantial design skills to contract clients including Elders and BHP then landed a permanent position at Fortune Advertising before a lecturing position at TAFE opened up the world of teaching to Rita.
Recipient of numerous awards, including the AADC President’s Award, she was a highly regarded member of the South Australia creative community and a greatly valued mentor and dear friend to many.
Her effervescence, positivity and ever-present smile will be sadly missed by all.
