The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), alongside a group of ten international industry heavyweights, is asking marketing and advertising professionals around the world to contribute to a ground-breaking survey.
The Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Census 2023 is open until April 30.
A leading mechanism in the industry's movement to create a more representative and inclusive workforce, the 2023 DEI Census builds on the work of the inaugural Census, which was conducted in 2021.
Just two years later, the world-first survey has already been a powerful force for change. Among the top ten findings from the 2021 census, which attracted responses from more than 10,000 people across 27 countries, were a series of jolting insights.
One in seven respondents indicated they would consider leaving their company and the industry because of a lack of diversity and inclusion; forty-seven per cent of women with dependent children said family status could hinder career success; women, ethnic minorities, and LGBQ+ people scored consistently lower on indicators of belonging; and people with disabilities were severely under-represented in the industry.
These findings were translated into The Global DEI Charter for Change. Launched last year at Cannes, the Charter sets out 11 key areas for improvements and recommends practical actions to help kick start that change.
WFA and its collaborators are repeating the DEI Census in 2023 to track progress in the industry, monitor benchmarks, and inform new action plans.
Contributions are anonymous and the census can be completed in less than 15 minutes.
